Both these places are famous for their lush green scenery, snowy mountains, thrilling adventures and peaceful atmosphere. Based on my own experience, I will tell you in this travel guide how you can make your trip to Manali and Kashmir the best, memorable and comfortable .

1. Experience Manali: A blend of nature and adventure

Manali is a beautiful hill station located in Himachal Pradesh. The calm atmosphere and greenery here relaxes you instantly. According to my experience, these are the places you must visit while visiting Manali:

Hadimba Temple

This temple is the oldest and most famous temple in Manali. I recommend visiting here in the morning as the crowd is less and the atmosphere of the temple is very peaceful. The forest and natural environment here soothes the soul.

Solang Valley

Solang Valley is no less than a paradise for adventure lovers. I experienced paragliding and ropeway here and it was really memorable. If you like adventure, then do not miss it.

Manali Mall Road

If you want to enjoy shopping and local food, then definitely visit Mall Road. I bought local sweets and handicrafts here. This experience feels very personal and special.

Rohtnag Waterfalls

This place is perfect for nature lovers. I preferred to visit here during the evening during my trip, because the sunlight creates a magical effect when it falls on the water.

Best Time to Visit – April to June and September to November. The weather is very good at this time.

Stay Options – Guesthouse or cozy hotels are best. In my personal experience, I have found the experience of local homestay very good.

Local Food – Do try Trout fish, Siddu and Momos. This is a good way to understand the local culture.

The ultimate peace of Dal Lake and the experience of a houseboat is unforgettable. During my trip there, I enjoyed the sunset on the water while sitting in a hunting boat in the evening . This experience can also feel very personal and romantic.

Gulmarg

Gulmarg is perfect for adventure and nature lovers. I rode a gondola here and enjoyed walking trails in the snow. The experience of skiing here in winters is also great.

Pahalgam

Pahalgam makes you feel very close to nature amidst the greenery and flowing rivers. I did trekking and exploring local villages here . It was the most calming and peaceful experience for me.

Sonamarg

The snow peaks and glaciers of Sonamarg really mesmerized me. I took full advantage of the frozen rivers and photography here.

Best Time to Visit – March to June and September to November. January-February is also good to see snowy scenes.

Stay Options – Houseboat or valley-view hotels. My personal recommendation: The experience of a houseboat is magical.

Local Food – Rogan Josh, Yakhni and Kahwa tea. It gives a personal experience of local taste.

As per my personal experience, if you want to travel on a moderate budget, then:

  • Travel – Volvo buses and local cabs are best for Manali and Kashmir.
  • Stay – Mid-range hotels or homestays are budget-friendly.
